Анотація

Соціологія дитинства як галузь соціології виокремилась та інституціоналізувалась у європейській і північноамериканській науковій думці близько 40 років тому. До того часу дітей і дитинство досліджували в межах соціології сім’ї або вікової соціології. У статті розглянуто чинники виникнення нової галузі, а також обставини й постаті, котрі стали рушієм змін у традиційному ставленні соціальної науки до дитини та дитинства протягом ХХ ст. Також ідеться про те, що таке нова соціологія дитинства та студії дитинства і чим погляди їхніх прибічників відрізняються від традиційних; які саме принципи об’єднують дослідників нової соціології дитинства та як соціологія дитинства розвивається в Україні.
